Today we celebrated the wedding of Mr. Q and Ms. U. We learned that Q and U are always together so they should be joined together in a wedding!
I know that some classrooms do big elaborate fancy weddings for Q and U and that's freakin' awesome. But we keep it simple in our room. We have fun...we giggle...we learn. And yes, there is some academic component to our wedding....so we're still meeting Common Core Standards!
#commoncoreisfun
I made a giant Q and U out of poster board. Colored them. Added glitter (DUH!) and a mustache! (DUH again!).
Of course you need a Mr. Q and Ms. U. I always just pick two students who I know will enjoy the ceremony and have fun with it. These two did not disappoint!
(At the end of the ceremony he snuck in a kiss on the cheek...Ms. U was not thrilled...)
You need a chapel and an aisle.
My awesome teammate, Mrs. "Stuffin" found this cute chapel picture and we projected it on our Promothean board. Blue butcher paper and glitter for an aisle.
Everyone gets to walk down the aisle.
Tissues included because weddings are emotional.
We have a short ceremony where Mr. Q and Ms. U promise to always work together to make words!

Every wedding needs wedding cakes...or cupcakes...
And like I said, there is academics in our wedding.
We celebrate Q and U being married by coming up with as Qu words as we can! We record them on our anchor chart and on our Q and U necklaces!
And of course, there's a freebie! You can get the anchor chart pieces and the necklaces by clicking on the picture below!
And that's how we celebrate QU in our own, simple, fun and memorable way!
